The Doors

To the left is a picture of the doorway in our upstairs bedroom. What's missing, you ask? That's right. It's all 'way' and no 'door'.

Today I wrote the following sentence in an email to our managing agents. I didn't realise until this evening how ridiculous the whole situation has become. You can work out the dispute:

I am sorry, but I do not feel that it is our responsibility to pay for a door to a bedroom as when we hired the flat, we made the assumption that all the rooms came with doors attached.

If you have been to our flat you will know that immediately upon opening the front door you are faced with a labyrinthine maze of further door options.

All within a square metre of the front door are the following. It is impossible to accurately explain quite how small this entire Door space is. Imagine The Doors, grumpy Jim et al, playing on stage all perched on the drum kit.

Like that, but with actual doors, not the actual Doors. Allow me to overextend the analogy introduce the band:

Door 1: Jim Morrison, front man door.
Door 2: John Densmore, drummer, noisy Door, immediately left, this will take you to the stairs, but not ot heaven, that's a pun for another band.
Door 3: (Robby Kreiger, guitar) one metre forward and left, kitchen.
Door 4: (Ray Manzarek) immediately left and left again before the stairs. Hilarious small downstairs bathroom.
Door 5: Ian Astbury, filmsy replacement Door, connecting the kitchen to the stairwell. If the Door is stuck, break on through, break on through... Stop it.

If you go through John Densmore, and go upstairs, you'll get to the point of this story, the upstairs bedroom. There you will find forgotten door.
Definitely no door there. I can prove it. And I did. I received  reply from the agent from the landlord:

My Rodriquez is prepared to pay for half of the door. However, this is based on the understanding that it will be removed at the end of the contract.

Anyone need half a door, let me know.

New Flat

We're moving. I would say we've moved, but until you can see the floor for boxes, I think you're moving...

It's like a microcosm for the country, this flat. Like Argentina, its pros outweigh the cons. like Argentina, it could be amazing if only things had been done properly in the first place. But once you build one hasty cheap fix upon another impulsive short term solution, then you find yourself in a flat where you switch on a tap and a window breaks.

Still, having a Gin and Tonic on the roof terrace in the sultry evening last night, it wasn't hard to focus on the pros...
