Argentine Cinema

In Katie's absence I've been working my way through what I'm told is the best of Argentine cinema. If you've seen anything good from this part of the world, I'd love a suggestion. Pithy Time Out stylee reviews accompany:

1. Buenos Aires Vice Versa
Wandering cameras find their way through parallel relationships of two sisters fighting their way through a dying and reborn Buenos Aires. (Trapdoor: that review is based almost entirely on the soundtrack, as enforced by the lack of English subtitles. And I still sat through the entire film.)

2. Pizza, Birra, Faso.
Low-budget, street urchin tragedy. Thoughtful without really being thought-provoking, unconvincing denouement, but a convincing depiction on the timeless theme of loyalty amongst thieves.

3. Neuve Reinas.
Class, with a twist as delicious as the lime in a Bond Martini.

To be continued...
