How are these possibly, as people often trot out, and as several people have said to me this week, the three most stressful things that you can experience in life? Off the top of my head I can think of the following, and most of these take less time:
1. Booking a flight on the internet. (Worst possible way to save a pound by avoiding the phone call, which is usually charming.)
2. Shopping with a girl.
3. Learning to drive.
4. Being taught by your Dad to drive.
5. Filling out a UCAS form.
6. In fact, filling out forms in general.
7. Airport security when flying to the States (and I´m white non Muslim, which on a flight is practically an upgrade in itself).
8. Waiting to receive anything between 8 and 1pm, or 1 and 6pm. Other times exists, people.
9. Trying to explain the rules of cricket to a foreigner.
10. That last Lord of the Rings movie, that I walked out well after the end but before it had ´finished´, and is quite possibly still finishing.
So, that´s 10. Feel free to contribute others. My point is: we have moved house and it´s wonderful. It´s a cracking place, made for visits from our far flung friends who want to experience a spot of Latino Americana. We are excellent hosts, and I have references to prove it, who can now offer drinks on the balcony, somewhere to sit (in fact, we have options), all the mod cons: toilets that flush, doors that shut. Can´t ask for much more than that, can you?
PS For the record, MarineBoy, from previous blog entry, suggested under stressful situations:
11. Trying to find Dougs in a crowd when he turns side on.
Which is neither funny nor factually accurate as I have beefed up into some sort of Lamont Brother in the last few weeks. Been hitting the weights pretty hard so that each previously sticklike leg now resembles, well, a twig.
