Asado

Friday lunch at school and I had my first asado. Sitting around tables outside on the grass with couple of bottles of wine. Lovely.

Instructions for an asado. (Serves 80)
1. Get a cow. A really, really big one.
2. Assemble many men.
3. Get a saw or a healthy sized axe.
4. Chop into lots of pieces, about the size of your head (if you have a really, really big head).
5. Grill it parillas - stylee.
6. Arrange meat like a scene from The Killing Fields (but a happy scene).
7. Pile plate until you have a wonderous meat pyramid.
8. Eat. (This may take some time)
9. Serve with a bottle of red or two. Wine tip for blaggers: look at the bottle suspiciously and say: ’Hmm. that’s brave…’ Someone will reply, ‘What is?’ And you say, ‘I never go north of Mendoza this time of year.’
10. Eat again. And unless you want to join ‘the disappeared’, finish your plate. (Disclaimer: following sentence deeply unattractive) Now just sit back and wait for the meat sweats.

Asado.

Useful private school Spanish phrase for the day:
¿Por favor. Que es una termínale autobús?
Sorry, Sir. What is a bus station?

And it was so funny, because I didn’t know either. How we laughed.
